Stanley Tool

I was recently looking on Stanley Tools website. I came across Stanley Guard. They are specially designed security items for job sites. Very good idea. The locks for the equipment have special features like a time setting where the lock can only be opened at specific times. There is another lock that uses Bluetooth and requires a badge to unlock it. So, for all the construction  companies out there, Check out Stanley Tool for security.

Power Tool Safety Checklist

I ran across this while searching online.

1.Am I trained and authorized to operate this tool?
2.Do I have the appropriate power tool safety gear? Gloves, boots hard hat, harness, safety goggles.
3.Is this the best power tool for the job?
4.Is the tool in good repair? Does It work properly?
5.Is the power cord torn? Are the batteries charged?
6.Is the cord untangled? Does it run through where people walk?
7.Is the outlet my tool is plugged into in good repair?
8.Is the blade sharp?
9.Is the power tool clean?
10.Is there clutter nearby my power tool work space?
11.Is my work space dry? Electric and water do not mix !
12.If an accident occurs, will there be someone close enough to hear me yell?
13.Is there a phone nearby to call for emergency medical treatment?
14.Are there unauthorized persons in the immediate area?
15.Does the power tool sound normal when turned on?
16.Does it sound normal during actual operation?
17.Am I prepared to store the power tool when I am finished using it?

This is very important questions considering that there are about 125,000 serious injuries a year because of power tools.

About 32,000 of these injuries are table saw related injuries.

Most of these injuries are caused by repetition, getting to comfortable doing the same thing that you don't pay close enough attention.

Inexperience is a big issue but so is overconfidence!

I searched around online and saw a lot of very gruesome photos and videos of the result of power tool accidents(I won't list any here) I just everyone should be aware of the damage these power tools can cause if not used safely and properly.

I was so worried.....

Ok,so after my last post I was so worried that I ruined my chance to make this blog a success. I worried for nothing! Friday afternoon I got a call from Wright Tool. I always check my caller id, when I saw that it was them I was not going to answer. Then I thought, why not. I feel like I done the right thing. So to make this story short, they are sending me another product from another line. I am so happy that my blog isn't finished before it really starts. Thank You so much Wright Tools.

Wright Tools

I received this test products free of charge but the opinions are 100% my own.

A special thank you to Wright Tools for the great package.

This is what they sent to me. A wrench, a box of bolts, a bolt anchor?(for lack of a better word)and an instruction sheet on how to preform the test.

One thing I want to mention before we get into the tech stuff.

Wright tools are made in the U.S.A.

Included in the "Wright Grip" demonstration:

9/16 wright grip combination wrench

Mandrel(the bolt anchor that I mentioned earlier)

Bolts to use for demo

Demo Directions:

1.Secure fastener to immobile surface (check)

2.Hand tighten bolt (check)

3.Find any other brand of 9/16 wrench and tighten to failure(failure for this demonstration is defined as rounding off the bolt edges)(check)

4.DO NOT REMOVE BOLT(check)

5.Take wright tools 9/16" combination wrench, place open end on same rounded corner of  bolt and continue to tighten.(check)

**Note: the bolt will continue to tighten and not round off which will cause the bolt head to snap!

6.You have just completed the Wright Demo and have witnessed the quality and ingenuity that Wright Tool offers to everyone of its customers.

This picture is not a very good one but if you look at the bolt head you can see where the Wright Grip wrench left marks on it.

-------My Results------

This was very hard for me. I was tempted to say what I thought they expected me to say. When I thought about starting this blog I told myself that I would give honest reviews. That is the whole purpose of this blog. So, I don't know if this is going to ruin my blog but here goes!

I followed the instructions just as they said. The other brand of wrench I used was a Snap On. I tightened the bolt as far as I could, putting all my strength into it. The edges did not round off. I then put the open end of the Wright Grip wrench on the bolt. I was able to tighten the bolt another 3/4 of a turn but the head did not snap. The bolt head had deep ridges in it where the Teeth of the Wright Grip wrench gripped it. I had my husband repeat the same exact procedure that I did and his results were that the head started to round off so he put the Wright Grip wrench on the bolt and it did tighten another full turn but didn't snap the head.

I am going to repeat this test with 2 other kinds of wrenches because I want to be able to give more in depth results. So please check back to see the other results.

Just to make sure that my readers understand that this wrench is a great product. The teeth give you a lot more contact, less slippage and is very sturdy.

Wright Tools

Wright tools sent me a very nice test product.
It is a wrench, looks like just an average wrench until you look closer.
It has ridges that gives you extra grip. i have done the experiment just as they instructed and the results are amazing.
I will be posting pictures later this morning of the products they sent, the instructions and the results. Can't wait to show you these.

I think you will be amazed like I was.

IRWIN TOOLS

Irwin Tool Drill Bits

This is what I received from Irwin Tools.
I received this free of charge but the review is 100% mine.

Ok, so I received  this from Irwin Tools, a set of  drill bits, a nice t-shirt, a can cooler, and 2 stickers.
Very nice items, Thank you.

The case is made of durable rubber in their signature colors. It has a slide lock closure for added protection.

I got the 15 piece set but these do come in smaller and larger sets. This set has (2) 1/6,5/64,(2)3/32, 7/16,(2)1/8,9/64,5/32,3/16,7/32,1/4,5/16,3/8 sized bits. Which is great because it contains 2 of the most common sized bits.

It features their Turbomax tips for faster starts, no walking(moving from your mark), and needs less pressure. They last up to 6 times longer that traditional bits.

This set also has another great feature, the shaft of the bits aren't round. They have a three point cut so the bit doesn't spin in the chuck. Very nice addition!
Sorry that last picture is blurry, will post another one.
I didn't think there was a difference in drill bits until I tested these. I tried everyone of these drill bits on different material and the smallest held up like the large one. They make drilling so much easier, no slipping off the mark, no slipping in the chuck, and no putting my body weight against the drill to drill holes.

I would recommend these drill bits to everyone from the hobbyist to the tradesmen.

Once again, thank you to Irwin Tool for supplying me with this tool.

Check back soon for a very important tool test from another great company.

Great Tool

I know everyone out there isn't a trucker but this tool is great for everyone. It is called the truckers friend. Made in the U.S.A.
It has a hammer and nail puller.
Tire chain hook
Wire twist(what ever that is)lol
ice and debris remover
axe
steel blade and shank
prybar
shock absorbing handle

This tool should be able to replace a lot of your tools so you can carry less.

Hello again,
Today I will be talking about my favorite stapler. It is made by Craftsman and called the Easyfire.I have used this stapler for about 4+ years and wouldn't imagine shopping for another kind.I am sure a lot of people remember the older staplers, the ones that you almost had to stand on to operate, lol. This stapler is so easy to use a small child can operate it. I didn't think of this until after I purchased this but how does it make since to try to push  something from the back that comes out the front? Well this stapler uses less force because the handle is overtop of where the staples come out,Genius! The handle is not too wide for smaller hands and you don't have to be the hulk to operate it. It takes staples and nails too. The packages of assorted staple/nails are very affordable. The features I like about this also are the see through window to see how many staples are left, and the wire guide. How many times have you climbed up a ladder only to realize you only had 1 or 2 staples left? More times than I would like to admit, sadly. Also this is great for women to hang up their own Christmas lights,no more put these here then no put them there, not so funny. Your wife/gf can move the lights herself.

These statements are my own and I was not compensated for this review in any way.

Thank you for checking out my blog.

Skil 4.5 Angle Grinder

Welcome Back.
Ok, so I guess the thing I should review first is the last tool I purchased.
It was a Skil 4.5 inch angle grinder. I bought this at Walmart for $25.00.It has the necessary power for everyday jobs. It comes with the handle that goes on the side to help hold it which is a good thing. The only problem I found with this has to do with the design. It was not made for women or men with smaller hands. The part that you hold that contains the workings is very big in diameter. I think it would be better if it was slimmed down a little, but overall is a great tool. I used it for bodywork on my Bronco and it has worked great.

Welcome

Keen on Tools

Welcome to Keen on Tools.

I am starting this blog to give a woman's view on tools and gadgets that are considered for men. I hope everyone reads my blog regularly. I will be review tools and things to determine if they are women friendly. I am going to try to have giveaways as my blog develops.
